Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Gel-X extensions, acrylics, and hard gel?
While all three give you beautiful length and strength, they use different materials and application methods:
- Gel-X (Soft Gel Extensions): These are full-coverage tips made of soft gel that are bonded directly to your natural nail using a gel base coat and cured under a UV/LED light. They feel incredibly lightweight, look completely natural, and are safely soaked off with acetone when you are ready for a new set, meaning zero damage to your natural nail.
- Hard Gel: This is a thick, durable gel builder sculpted over your natural nail or a tip extension. Unlike soft gel, hard gel cannot be soaked off, it must be gently filed down during a “fill” appointment. It’s incredibly strong, flexible, and perfect if your hands get a lot of daily wear and tear.
- Acrylics: A classic method combining a liquid monomer and powder polymer to create a hard, protective layer over extensions. Acrylics are rigid and exceptionally strong, making them great for very long lengths or dramatic nail shapes. They require a fill every 2 to 3 weeks.
Not sure which to choose? Book a consultation or a standard full set, and our nail artists will assess your natural nail health and lifestyle to recommend the perfect fit!
What is a structured gel manicure (BIAB), and is it right for me?
A structured manicure uses BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) a thick, premium gel that reinforces your natural nail. Instead of applying gel polish thinly like standard polish, our technicians carefully layer and sculpt the builder gel to create an “apex” (a slight curve over the center of your nail).
This architecture adds serious strength at the nail’s natural weak points, preventing bending, snapping, and peeling.
This service is perfect for you if:
- You want to grow your natural nails long but they usually crack or split.
- You have weak, brittle, or thin nails.
- You want a manicure that lasts flawlessly for 3 to 4 weeks without lifting.
What is a Russian manicure, and how does it differ from a standard manicure?
A Russian manicure (sometimes called a dry or e-file manicure) is a high-precision, premium technique that focuses on immaculate cuticle care and maximum polish longevity. Unlike traditional manicures, your hands are never soaked in water, which can cause the nail plate to expand and lead to early polish chipping.
Instead, our highly trained technicians use specialized, medical-grade electronic file (e-file) bits to gently remove excess, dead cuticle skin and polish the surrounding tissue. This allows us to apply the gel polish slightly under the cuticle line.
The Result: A flawless, seamless finish that looks freshly done for up to 4 weeks, with no visible regrowth line for the first 10 to 14 days. Because this requires specialized training and advanced technical skill to perform safely, it is one of our most popular premium services.

How long do gel manicures and nail extensions typically last?
The lifespan of your manicure depends entirely on your natural nail type, lifestyle, and the specific service you receive. On average, you can expect:
- Standard Gel Manicures: 2 to 3 weeks of flawless, chip-free wear.
- Structured Gel (BIAB): 3 to 4 weeks before needing a fill.
- Gel-X Extensions & Acrylics: 3 to 4 weeks before requiring a fill or safe removal/new set.
Want to maximize your wear? We highly recommend wearing gloves when doing dishes or using heavy cleaning chemicals, applying cuticle oil daily to keep the nail bed hydrated, and never using your nails as tools to open boxes or cans!
How do you clean and sanitize your nail tools and pedicure bowls?
Your health and safety are our absolute top priorities. We adhere to sanitizing protocols that far exceed standard state board requirements:
- Metal Implements: All metal tools (nippers, pushers, clippers) are scrubbed, then submerged in disinfection solution, and then placed under ultraviolet light. Each set of tools is placed in a new sanitized bag and used once and then sanitized,
- Pedicure Bowls: Every pedicure gets its own pedicure liner and then its removed.and a new liner installed.
